Specialist, Maintenance
Job Summary
Dollarama is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Maintenance Operations Specialist to oversee and coordinate maintenance activities across our retail stores in Canada. The ideal candidate will ensure that all facilities and equipment are maintained in optimal condition, supporting smooth store operations and a safe shopping environment. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Key Accountabilities
• Maintenance Team: Supervise and coordinate daily activities of maintenance technicians and contractors to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
• Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for store equipment, facilities, and infrastructure. Address and resolve urgent repair issues promptly.
• Facility Management: Oversee the maintenance and safety of store environments, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, and other building systems.
• Budget & Inventory Control: Manage maintenance budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective operations. Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and supplies.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards. Conduct safety inspections and promote a safety-first culture.
• Vendor & Contractor Management: Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs, installations, and inspections.
• Record Keeping & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and inspections. Prepare reports for management regarding maintenance status and improvements.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, energy efficiency, and cost savings within maintenance operations.
Job Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or certification in facilities management, HVAC, electrical, or related field preferred.
• Proven experience in maintenance supervision, facilities management, or related roles.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general repairs.
• Experience in management of large-scale Construction projects; construction PM an asset
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Familiarity with safety standards and regulations (OHSA, local codes).
• Knowledge of SAP, an asset
• Bilingual (French and English)
• Ability to multitask
• Extremely organized and detail oriented
• Proficient in using maintenance management software and MS Office Suite.
Other Requirements:
• Ability to respond to emergency repairs outside regular working hours if necessary.
• Ability to travel within Canada
• Valid driver’s license as some travel is required
