Senior Analyst, Inventory & Controls
Job Summary
Key Accountabilities
• Develop optimized analysis models to support decision-making, including building and maintaining the inventory. database to track key performance measures (inventory turnover, margin, inventory in transit, age of inventories, etc.).
• Perform in depth analysis of inventory shrinkage across many dimensions (store type, region, departments, product categories, etc.) to highlight trends, root causes and opportunities to improve shrinkage.
• Prepare financial analysis and reporting for monthly and quarterly financial and presentations.
• Provide insight and analysis on key factors impacting the inventory forecast (inventory levels, margins, key cost drivers, etc.).
• Develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards to provide visibility into inventory performance metrics (aging, turns, margins, shrink) at various levels (SKU, store, region).
• Support system implementations, enhancements, and testing (e.g., new distribution centers, process changes) by validating inventory data and reporting outputs.
• Led the transition and optimization of inventory reporting into Power BI, including testing, validation, and documentation.
• Partner cross-functionally with Replenishment, Accounting, FP&A, and Operations to ensure alignment and successful execution of inventory-related initiatives and process improvements.
• Ensure strong internal controls over inventory, including monitoring accuracy, completeness, and integrity of inventory records (Compliance with 52-109).
• Support internal and external audit processes by preparing timely and accurate documentation and reconciliations.
• Collaborate with FP&A and project teams to evaluate shrink reduction initiatives, including the financial impact, coordination of counts with stores to support the payback analysis.
• Prepare and analyze estimated store inventory level to support operational planning, including labor budgeting for inventory counts.
• Validate third-party inventory count results and ensure accurate receipt and transmission of master data files.
Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a similar role or financial/accounting analysis role with exposure to inventory, forecasting, and margin/cost analysis.
• Experience working with a large ERP system (SAP strongly preferred).
• Advanced analytical capabilities, including:
o Excel (Advanced)
o Power BI or similar visualization tools
o Strong ability to manage and interpret large, complex datasets
Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
• Proactive mindset with the ability to identify issues and drive solutions independently.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
• Strong communication skills (written/verbal).

On going key initiative in inventory:
• Preparation for implementation of new DC in Calgary on a new warehousing system.
• Transition of many key inventory reports from BW to Power BI.
• Optimization of shrink analysis process and posting to deliver quicker financial results and optimize visibility on financial results in our system.
• Support with knowledge sharing with TRS for best practices.
