Manager, Financial Reporting

Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director, Financial Reporting, the Financial Reporting Manager will be responsible for the collection, analysis, management and dissemination of financial data. Their mandate will be to ensure that all financial information is accurate, up-to-date and compliant with current standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare the quarterly and annual financial statements, management reports and financial press releases in accordance with the IFRS;
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership to the company’s various departments on the accounting implications of new contracts signed, identify opportunities, and provide recommendations to ensure compliance and optimize the company’s financial performance;
  • Implement technical accounting positions on new transactions taking place within the company;
  • Coordinate audits and quarterly reviews with external auditors, ensuring that deadlines are met, and requests satisfied;
  • Provide detailed financial analyses and recommendations to management and various departments to facilitate strategic decision-making;
  • Suggest improvements to financial management processes to optimize efficiency, reduce costs and increase transparency;
  • Implement new technologies and tools to facilitate the management and analysis of financial information;
  • Prepare quarterly presentations to the Audit Committee on accounting developments;
  • Manage the CPA internship program by ensuring the recruitment, follow-up and development of interns while supporting them in their preparation for the Ordre des CPA’s Common Final Examination (CFE);
  • Quarterly review of the financial results of our partnership with Dollarcity, including support for accounting positions;
  • Oversee the documentation and the maintenance of internal controls related to financial reporting;
  • Keep abreast of new IFRS, tax and Canadian financial reporting regulations, and ensure their adoption and implementation within the organization by developing accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
     

Job Requirements

  • CPA certification required;
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar position;
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and regulatory requirements;
  • Experience in team management;
  • Attention to detail, analytical mind, ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Good command of Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Experience with SAP an asset;
  • Experience in the retail industry an asset.
