Manager, Distribution Centre

Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Distribution Center, the Production Manager (Assembly Department) will be responsible for planning and organizing the daily operations of the assembly department, optimizing resources and process execution, and maintaining a safe and positive work environment while upholding the company's values and ethics.

Key Accountabilities

Production Follow-up:

  • Analyze the department’s operations, define priorities, and allocate the team based on operational needs.
  • Evaluate and ensure the operational productivity of the assembly department and participate in performance management.
  • Analyze reports related to the department and take necessary actions.
  • Analyze performance indicators and adjust the department’s strategy to maximize productivity.
  • Monitor the progress of resource costs and ongoing projects, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions to optimize committed budgets.

Production Management:

  • Ensure standardization of procedures and working methods across all shifts (2).
  • Define and communicate overall performance objectives to the assembly management team.
  • Ensure the execution of active supervisory rounds.
  • Communicate and raise awareness within the department’s management team about occupational health and safety standards and procedures to follow in the event of a workplace accident.
  • Ensure the team works in a safe environment and adheres to occupational health and safety standards.
  • Ensure optimal use of material resources.
  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of pallet assembly produced.
  • Anticipate challenges related to seasonality or process changes and adjust the department’s resources as needed.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Analyze and make recommendations regarding the work environment and the equipment used by the team.
  • Lead the identification and implementation of continuous improvement projects within the department.
  • Maintain communication with managers from other departments and support services (continuous improvement, projects, IT) to support actions/projects involving the department.
  • Develop a strategic plan to improve performance in various areas for the assembly department (productivity, occupational health and safety, quality, environment, work climate).

Management:

  • Lead a team consisting of multiple supervisors and team leaders.
  • Ensure verification and validation of time sheets in the Kronos software.
  • Manage, in collaboration with the HR department, the staffing of the department (recruitment, leaves, rest periods, on-call duties, professional development, performance reviews).
  • Define a training plan to promote continuous skill development, identify training needs within the team, coach managers, and apply corrective measures when necessary.
  • Develop a succession plan for the department to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Substitute for the Senior Distribution Center Manager when necessary.
     

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in implementing and managing operational growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop a team.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Analytical skills, well-organized, and highly detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, high-volume environment.
