Job Summary

Working within the Replenishment Innovation team, Dollarama is looking for a Filemaker Developer to design, develop, and maintain Dollarama’s custom FileMaker solutions that support our business processes and improve overall efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in FileMaker Pro/Pro Advanced and be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment. The FileMaker Developer will work to further implement various projects across the organisation.

Key Accountabilities

  • Design, build, and maintain custom FileMaker applications that support retail and operational workflows;
  • Translate complex business requirements into intuitive, performant FileMaker solutions;
  • Develop and deploy solutions across iOS (FileMaker Go), Windows, macOS, and WebDirect;
  • Design efficient user interfaces and layouts; write and optimize scripts, calculations, relationships, and reports;
  • Configure, maintain, and monitor FileMaker Server environments, including: backups, recovery, scheduled scripts, PSoS, performance monitoring, SSL management, and upgrades;
  • Implement and enforce security best practices, including privilege sets, account management, external authentication, and file access control;
  • Provide documentation and technical support to end users and internal stakeholders;
  • Assist in the evaluation and adoption of new tools, integrations, and system architecture improvements (e.g. APIs, REST);
  • Generate accurate and timely reporting from database information to support decision-making; and
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and compliant with company IT policies.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field;
  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience developing in FileMaker Pro / Pro Advanced including complex relational design, scripting, calculations, UI/UX, and reporting;
  • Knowledge of retail or product-based environments is an asset;
  • FileMaker Certification is an asset;
  • Strong experience with FileMaker Server administration (Windows and/or macOS), including backups, monitoring, and troubleshooting;
  • Experience deploying and optimizing FileMaker WebDirect solutions;
  • Familiarity with container storage strategies (internal vs external, secure vs open);
  • Strong understanding of server-side scripting, APIs, and integrations (REST, JSON, cURL);
  • Knowledge of SQL and ability to integrate FileMaker with external databases (ESS, ODBC); and
  • Strong understanding of performance tuning techniques (script optimization, layout design, indexing, conditional formatting).
