Analyst, Accounting

Job Summary

Join a dynamic team where your accounting expertise meets operational impact! Reporting to the Senior Manager, Accounting, the Accounting Analyst will not only play a key role in the financial close process by delivering accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis but also optimize the management of our fleet of approximately 150 vehicles— driving efficiency and cost control across the organization.

Key Accountabilities

Financial reporting & analysis
•    Prepare monthly journal entries and assist in completing financial close activities, including accruals and reclassification entries;
•    Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy and completeness of account balances;
•    Analyze monthly variances and provide insights on financial results;
•    Prepare supporting schedules and analysis for financial statement note disclosures;
•    Prepare internal financial statements for management.
Strategic initiatives
•    Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and accuracy;
•    Support ad hoc financial analyses for vendors, cost centers, and special projects;
•    Actively participate in the annual budget process including, analyze PL accounts and collaborate with other departments to gather and validate data inputs;
•    Participate in analyzing the organization’s cost allocation methodology and ensure monthly execution of cost distributions to the appropriate departments.
Fleet management
•    Support our fleet management supplier in delivering key initiatives across the full lifecycle of Dollarama’s fleet;
•    Forecast the vehicles needs, insurance registration, fleet policy reinforcement, etc.; 
•    Ensure data integrity and generate insightful reports to optimize fleet management;
•    Liaise with internal employees to resolve vehicle-related matters.
Compliance & audit
•    Respond to audit requests, including GL extracts and supporting documentation;
•    Assist with preparation of sales tax returns and account reconciliations;
•    Support with the research and analysis for article taxability.

Job Requirements

•    CPA designation or in progress;
•    2+ years of relevant accounting experience;
•    Experience with large ERP system, SAP experience is a strong asset;
•    Background in audit is an asset;
•    Experience with fleet management is an asset;
•    Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to work efficiently with large data sets and perform in-depth financial analysis;
•    Solid understanding of IFRS reporting standard;
•    Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment;
•    Proven ability to actively engage with internal teams, fostering strong cross-functional collaboration and clear communication (both written and verbal) throughout the organization;
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and French (Proficiency in English is required as the candidate will be working with teams across the rest of Canada).
