Advisor, Internal Controls (12 months contract)

Job Summary

The Internal Control Advisor work will have a significant impact on our day-to-day operations. He or she actively participates in the internal control compliance process, acts as a trusted advisor - on various projects, and facilitates external audit activities.

Key Accountabilities

•    Participate in the review and continuous improvement of controls, including the related documentation (Risk and controls matrix, narratives and flowcharts).
•    Identify process and control automation opportunities.
•    Perform the Test of Design (TOD) and Test of Operating Effectiveness (TOE) of the key controls identified in documentation 52-109 including ITGC.
•    Take part of the quarterly control self assessment and the 52-109certification.
•    Support business units in identifying and setting up solutions to resolve deficiencies.
•    Ensure that internal controls are adapted to business needs and evolve with the new technologies implemented throughout the organization.
•    Participate in multidisciplinary special projects by participating a real-time audit, by providing financial expertise and recommendations.
•    In collaboration with external auditors, guide the testing strategy for each process.
Provide support to external auditors when required.

Job Requirements

•    Between 2 to 4 years of experience in external audits or in 52-109 or SOX in accounting firms, preferably a Big 4 or large firm.
•    CPA professional designation (A plus).
•    In-depth knowledge of accounting standards and/or financial controls.
•    Strong analytical capacity to properly target the risks of a financial process.
•    Flexible, independent and rigorous in planning and executing tasks.
•    Knowledge of retail industry (A plus).
•    Knowledge of IT General Controls (ITGC).
•    CPA or CIA or CISA certification.
•    Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 including Excel and Visio.
•    Bilingualism (French and English) – Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the organization.
