Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, ESG, the Advisor, ESG plays a key role in advancing the Company's sustainability roadmap through the assessment, deployment, and monitoring of initiatives. Dollarama’s ESG program spans a broad range of environmental and social topics across business functions and is an important component of the Company’s business strategy, including its international expansion. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with senior leadership and to implement the sustainability program of a publicly traded corporation. 
The incumbent will manage the operational aspects of ESG initiatives, while working with the Analyst, ESG to measure performance and progress. The Advisor will also coordinate internal and external stakeholders to ensure ESG initiatives are effectively integrated into business operations and will provide practical insights from implementation to help inform and advance the Company’s ESG roadmap objectives.
While this role is currently focused on environmental priorities, such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, and stakeholder engagements in support of climate goals, initiatives will evolve in line with Dollarama’s ESG strategy and priorities.

Key Accountabilities

ESG roadmap, goals and projects:
•    Manage the execution of ESG initiatives by collaborating closely with various internal and external stakeholders and monitor progress, budgets and timelines;
•    Assess new ESG initiative opportunities and build business cases by engaging relevant stakeholders and collecting insights and data with regards to technical feasibility, sustainability impact, financial performance and costs;
•    Partner with the Analyst, ESG to measure and model sustainability impact, financial performance, and to track how initiatives contribute to existing goals and targets;
o    Maintain knowledge of relevant ESG standards (such as GHG Protocol) to measure impact in accordance with such standards;
•    Develop recommendations with regards to deployment in order to maximize sustainability impact, financial performance and operational viability;
•    Present, on an ad hoc basis, ESG initiatives to senior leadership to provide updates on progress;
•    Conduct benchmarking of peers’ and partners’ disclosure, strategy and initiatives to inform the ESG strategy and roadmap;
•    Support the Manager, ESG in translating ESG priorities in actionable initiatives;
•    Support the integration of international business segments into the ESG strategy by engaging relevant teams and by mapping opportunities to align ESG approaches;

ESG reporting (quarterly ESG reporting, annual ESG report, annual Gender Diversity and Scope 1-2 GHG assurance);
•    Coordinate the annual assurance on Scope 1-2 GHG and gender diversity by engaging with stakeholders to collect data and insights, preparing documentation and backups and collaborating closely with the Analyst, ESG on updating and validating relevant Excel models;
•    Partner with the Analyst, ESG to establish data collection processes and KPI tracking mechanisms for new ESG initiatives, including to measure their contribution to existing goals and targets;
•    Contribute to quarterly and annual ESG reporting by providing insights into ESG initiatives progress, scope and performance and contribute to KPI validation;
•    Support the integration of international business segments into ESG reporting by engaging relevant teams and coordinating with the Analyst, ESG on the required data.

 

Job Requirements

•    A minimum of 3 years of experience in an operational role with project management and data analysis responsibilities;
•    Comfortable excel;
•    Demonstrated experience in utilizing data to identify insights and translating findings into recommendations;
•    Demonstrated project management capabilities in multi-stakeholder contexts
•    1 or 2 years of ESG experience preferred;
•    Experience in GHG carbon accounting and GHG Protocol preferred;
•    Experience in environmental topics such as energy management, renewable energy, waste management and packaging preferred;
•    Understanding of ISSB, SASB, TCFD and of rating agencies (MSCI, Sustainalytics, etc.) preferred;
•    Ability to work and willingness to learn in a fast-paced professional environment;
•    Goal-driven, autonomous, rigorous, and curious;
•    Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in French and English.
