Coordinator, Logistics

Job Summary

Reporting to the Outbound Logistics Manager, the coordinator is responsible for ensuring that goods are delivered to stores in a safe, efficient, and timely manner, and in accordance with all the company’s operating procedures.

Key Accountabilities

  • Coordinate delivery and pick-up operations.
  • Track merchandise shipments to meet store needs in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate special delivery requests (weekends, after-hours, transfers between stores, etc.)
  • Coordinate store delivery changes (late deliveries, etc.)
  • Coordinate delivery exceptions (refused pallets, missing pallets, damaged pallets, direct store deliveries, etc.)
  • Communicate with various stakeholders (carriers, supervisors, store managers, etc.) regarding special requests and projects.
  • Respond to all store requests (usually received by e-mail).
  • Communicate with regional warehouses.
  • Communicate plans for holiday delivery schedules, winter exception plans, etc.
  • Review shipping issues with stores and communicate with key people.
  • Provide front-line support to supervisors and operations managers (escalation of problems, if necessary).
  • Modify load plans (increase or decrease as needed).
  • Coordinate special requests (delivery below maximum, change of pallet height, change of delivery window, delivery by truck with elevator, pallet truck requests, return of empty pallets, etc.).
  • Update payments and invoices in the system.
  • Generate reports (merchandise accumulation tracking, accumulation report, loading plan, inventory report and regional warehouse tracking, unconfirmed EDI reports).
  • Other related tasks.

Job Requirements

  • College diploma in a relevant or related field
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience in the field or in a similar position (customer service)
  • Able to work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment. 
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Planning and organization skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good computer skills, particularly with Excel (SAP an asset).
  • Experience in the retail industry (an asset).
